Petro-Phonetica: Event Summary
Petro- phonetica, a presentation contest, was organised by Petrotech Society, ISM Chapter on
7th September, 2010. The event was conducted in GJLT, and started at 6:30. The topic of the
presentation was “Oil Spills and Other Petroleum Hazards”. The event received participation from all,
1st, 2nd, 3rd and final year students.
Dr. U.P. Sharma and Mr. Ram Kulesh graced the event with their presence as judges. The
welcome address was delivered by AbhijeetAnand and set the mood for the evening. In this opening
speech, Abhijeet included a brief introduction of the Petrotech Society, its activities and its objectives.
He also introduced the judges and laid down the rules for the presentation contest that followed.

Following the participants’ presentations, two very informative presentations on the topics
‘How to give a persuasive technical presentation’ and ‘The Gulf of Mexico oil spill’ were given by
Mr.EkantChoudhary, final year petroleum engg.
The final results, as decided upon by the judges, were as follows:
1st : Rachit Vijay
2nd: Joy Singhal and JyotirmayMohanta
3rd: Shubham Mishra and Abhay Jain
The winners were called upon the stage and congratulated.
Refreshments were provided to the audience after the announcement of the results.
The event received a full audience and the enthusiasm of the first year students was more
than evident. Owing to the meticulous planning and the hard work put in by the organising team,
the event was successful and gathered praise from one and all.
